HAC Minister Gu Show-faye said that the 12 townships of the Liugdui region take turns to host the Liugdui Sports Games. The left sector, Zodui, comprises two townships: Jiadong and Xinpi, and Jiadong will pick up the baton next year. An opportunity offered once every 12 years, it is a great honor to act as the organizer as local residents excitedly join the grand occasion. It is hoped that as the Liugdui Sports Games set to take place in Jiadong next year, culture from Hakka villages will shine brighter than ever, crafting a lively celebration that will herald in the next century of glory. Hakka people and friends from across Taiwan are invited to join the 61st Liugdui Sports Games in Jiadong in 2026.
Also known as gaˊ dungˊ gioˊ , Jiadong in Zodui preserves century-old buildings and is the only coastal Hakka settlement in Pingtung and Kaohsiung, making it a major historical site with unique collective memories in the Liugdui region. The Liugdui Sports Games celebrate a new milestone as they enter the 61st edition. The Preparatory Meeting invited local influential figures to discuss and integrate distinctive ideas and concepts of Zodui, building consensus for organization of the Games through public participation. Many people eagerly join the Liugdui Sports Games every year, fostering deeper identification with regional culture while shining a public spotlight on the spirit and camaraderie of the Liugdui Sports Games.
