Minister Gu shared that the Music Awards are now entering their second year, divided into the Creative and Singing Categories. Training for the semifinal and final rounds is provided to nominees. In addition to expert advice, the top three winners will receive additional guidance and mentorship with tailor-made professional training courses to launch their career as emerging stars. Given that there are many people who love Hakka music both at home and abroad, this year’s competition will continue to be promoted overseas, calling on more outstanding works and contestants to vie for glory.
HAC has been implementing the Hakka Pop program since 2015, and started expanding and holding the Global Hakka Music Awards in recent years. From discovering promising artists, training, musical creation, and performance production to forming new talents to enter the popular music market, this effort has already cultivated numerous celebrated Hakka musicians, like Gina Yang, Lai Yu-chiao, Rita Lin, A_Root, Lulu Lin, Traego, Huang Yu-han, and Vuize. Their amazing skills have been recognized through nominations and victories at the Golden Melody Awards.
The competition is divided into three stages (preliminary, semi-final and final rounds). The top three teams in the Creative Category will record singles and shoot music videos, which will be released on global digital streaming platforms. The total prize money for this year’s Awards amounts to NT$1.05 million, a handsome incentive for musicians to show their best.
