Neipu Township, Pingtung County organized this year's Sports Games, which will be preluded by the Liugdui Marathon on February 15 with expanded registration quota and awards to commemorate the Games' 60th anniversary. Everyone across the island is invited to visit the southern Hakka villages and learn about Liugdui's traditions. The Games will comprise sports like athletics, basketball, traditional Hakka military drills, and traditional games of chance, in addition to traditional performances. The Games' 60th anniversary will also feature a Hakka lion dance competition, giant elephant chess matches, and giant soccer matches to celebrate the meaningful occasion, joined by 369 townships and communities across the country.
A series of exciting activities are set to rock Neipu. The flame lighting ceremony and a religious procession across Liugdui's Townships will usher in the 60th Sports Games on February 24. Different from previous years, the opening ceremony on March 1 will not be limited to the stadium but take place on a grander scale at the Liugdui Memorial Park. The Athletes' Night will combine elements of Hakka, Hokkien, and indigenous cultures under the theme "Cross-Ethnic Fun", including performances by J HALL, the youngest children's band in M-Pop history; Flame Bug, natives of Neipu and winners of the Hakka Melody Award; popular indigenous duo Two stroke engine; and superstar Stan Chen. The two days will offer a variety of thrilling competitions and lively activities. Everyone is invited to come and witness the passion and glory of the Liugdui Sports Games!
