Launched by the Hakka Affairs Council (HAC), a travel website featuring Hakka villages across Taiwan is officially online. The website provides visitors with the latest information on Hakka tourism, encompassing the Tung blossom forecast, Raknus Selu Trail (樟之細路) and hiking, local travel itineraries, must-see attractions, and so on.
During the Tung blossom season, flower viewing is a popular leisure activity among the people. Through the Hakka travel website, visitors can get access to the latest Tung flower forecast in northern and central Taiwan, including Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Taichung City, Nantou County, and Changhua County.
In the past, information on blooming Tung flowers was collected by volunteers from all over the country. In order to promote smart tourism and facilitate tourists to arrange their Tung flower viewing itinerary in advance, an IoT monitoring system has been set up at ten Tung flower scenic spots this year to construct a prediction model based on data obtained from the onsite monitoring and historical flowering status. Flower viewers can get the updated information in accordance with the actual weather data through smart technology on this website.
The travel website has another highlight. Through the techniques of aerial photography and the 360-degree shot, visitors can have an immersive experience in virtual tours of Hakka settlements online. The website presents the first virtual tour of Miaoli’s Nanzhuang Township and will offer panoramas of other Hakka regions in the future, including Taoyuan’s Xinwu, Longtan; Hsinchu’s Xinpu, Guanxi, and Beipu; and Miaoli’s Tungluo and Sanyi.
Information on historical trails can also be found on the website for hikers to visit the national greenway Raknus Selu Trail and explore the early history of Hakka people living in the mountainous areas. Moreover, 360-degree panoramic videos featuring these trails are presented on the website, providing viewers with unbelievable sights on an immersive nature hike.
