HAC Minister Yiong Con-ziin said that the Council has maintained the concept of mainstreaming ethnic groups and encourages cross-cultural exchanges. Hence, a series of activities to pay tribute to Taiwanese indigenous people has been held by HAC since 2020, including rewriting the Hakka reclamation history and holding the first-ever Hakka-indigenous basketball game, demonstrating the importance of multi-ethnic culture in society, Yiong added.
Noting that the second edition of the ball game, which was originally scheduled in 2021, has been postponed to this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Minister looks forward to active participation in this sporting event.
The 2022 Hakka-indigenous youth three-on-three basketball game will take place from June 4 through July 23 in eight counties and cities, including Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Nantou County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Hualien County, and Pingtung County.
A team consists of five players, and it shall at least have two indigenous players and one Hakka player. Every competing basketball team must have a cheerleading squad comprising between five and ten members.
Every participating team can get two commemorative basketballs, and each player will receive a jersey. The champion team in each category will be awarded prize money, with NT$20,000 for the group of elementary school and NT$30,000 for the group of junior high school.
The registration for the game is open online until June 2, without entry fees. For further information, please visit the official website: https://www.focusline.com.tw/2022ykcup/General.
