
Through the Hakka historical drama "Gold Leaf," a co-production between Taiwan Public Television Service Foundation (PTS) and the Hakka Affairs Council (HAC), the drama filming spots across Taiwan have become all the rage. Daxi Tea Factory (大溪茶廠)

Fuyuan Tea Factory (福源茶廠)

Established in 1949 in Taoyuan City, Fuyuan Tea Factory introduced Western tea production equipment and mechanized small-scale production into mass production. Nowadays, the antique European tea-making machines are still running.

Chiang A-Hsin Mansion (姜阿新洋樓)

Built in 1946 in Hsinchu County’s Beipu Township by Hakka tea tycoon Chiang A-Hsin (姜阿新), the Western-style mansion served as a reception house for his visiting clients and also for his family to live in.

Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes (露德聖母朝聖地)

Emulating the style of the pilgrimage site in France, a Canadian missionary built the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in 1958 in Hsinchu County.

Yusan Hall (餘三館)

Built in 1884 in Changhua County and completed in 1891, the centuries-old Yusan Hall is now one of the top ten ancient houses in Taiwan.

Hsiao Family’s Old House (蕭家古厝)

Constructed in 1860 in the Liudui area of southern Taiwan, the old house of the Hsiao Family is the only traditional Hakka residential building in the country that encompasses five halls and six wings.

Rui Wu Dan Cinema (瑞舞丹戲院)

Established in 1964 in Hualien County, the cinema has become a tourist attraction since it was closed in 1989.

Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park (花蓮文創園區)

Constructed in 1913 during the period of Japanese rule as a wine factory, the park was designated by the government of Hualien County as a historical building in 2002.

Erjie Rice Barn (二結穀倉)

Built in 1928 in Yilan County, the barn, a three-story brick storage warehouse with Japanese-Western architectural style, is a well-preserved historical building transformed into a venue for cultural preservation.

Ten Consecutive Buildings of Dihua Street (迪化街十連棟)

Completed in 1912 in Taipei, the group of ten consecutive red brick houses, owned by six families, were sites for operating five large rice mills and a sewing thread factory.

Taipei Guest House (臺北賓館)

Taipei Guest House was originally the official residence of the Governor-General of Taiwan during the Japanese period. Managed by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it now serves as a state guest house for for hosting diplomatic receptions and ceremonies.

Taiwan New Cultural Movement Memorial Hall (臺灣新文化運動紀念館)

Constructed in 1933 during the period of Japanese rule, the building that encompasses a fan-shaped detention room and a dungeon was originally the police headquarters of Taihoku Prefecture.

Former Residence of Yin Hai-kuang (殷海光故居)

Constructed in 1945, the building was a dormitory where Yin Hai-kuang (1919-1969) lived. Yin was a liberal-thinking scholar, suffering from political persecution because of his being critical of the government during the martial law period. Yin’s former residence was designated as a city-level historical building so as to preserve his intellectual and cultural legacy.

Sun Moon Lake Antique Assam Tea Factory (日月老茶廠)

The old tea factory is located near the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area in Nantou County. Thanks to the natural environment, the Assam black tea the factory produces is of excellent quality.

Lukang Branch of Radio Taiwan International (中央廣播電臺鹿港分臺)

In the past, the Lukang Branch of Radio Taiwan International was under the Ministry of National Defense, and there were military police stationed around the facilities. The surrounding moats, electric towers, cooling pools, and sentry pavilions were all listed as representing cultural landscapes of the Cold War.

Taitung Branch of Tea Research and Extension Station, COA (臺東農委會茶葉改良場)

Under the Council of Agriculture (COA), the station is responsible for cultivating tea varieties and cultivars, improving tea farm cultivation and management, conducting research on tea tree diseases and insect pests and their prevention measures, and developing diversified tea products.

Former Japanese Garrison Hospital Beitou Branch (日軍衛戍療養院北投分院/向陽學苑)

Constructed during the period of Japanese rule, the Former Japanese Garrison Hospital Beitou Branch is one of the buildings now located at Tri-Service General Hospital Beitou Branch. The historical building was renovated in 2012 and open to the public.
