THCDC Director-General Ho Chin-liang (何金樑) said that, directed by Yang Jen-hsien (楊仁賢), who has the experience in the production of Disney animated movies and collaboration with the Japanese animation studio Tezuka Productions, the Hakka 3D animation tells a story about the land, faith, festival, and daily life.

The Dragon Bombing Event is a long-standing tradition in Miaoli’s Hakka settlement, an annual ritual held during the Lantern Festival, which falls on the 15th day of the first month of the lunar calendar. During the ritual, the performers maneuver the dragon in a dance while others set off a lot of firecrackers and beehive rockets to “kill” the evil spirits (get rid of what’s old) to welcome the dragon deity to local villages and greet the New Year. This event is a precious traditional folk custom and one of the 12 major festivals of Taiwan Hakka villages.

THCDC highly recommends the Hakka 3D animation, which centers on interesting festivities of the Dragon Bombing, depicting the unique religious culture and earth/dragon deity in Hakka villages, and hopes all the audience will enjoy the animated film.

The Hakka 3D animation “siinˇ iangˋ ziiˊ liungˇ” is available now at Miaoli’s Taiwan Hakka Museum. More information can be found at the website: https://thcdc.hakka.gov.tw/1241/1258/1261/1873/post.
