The Taiwanese Hakka Association of Vietnam (越南臺灣客家同鄉會) held a handover ceremony of its chairmanship as well as celebrations for the Moon Festival in Bình Dương on Sept. 15.

The event was attended by more than 160 participants, including Chung Wen-cheng (鍾文正), director-general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Ho Chi Minh City; TECO official You Kai-chiuan (游凱全); Chang Wei-bin (章維斌), president of Taiwanese Hakka Association of the World (世界臺灣客家聯合總會, THAW); Chang Liang-bin (張良彬), chair of the Asia Taiwanese Hakka Association (亞洲臺灣客家聯合總會); and Liu Chien-yu (劉建佑), president of the Taiwan Hakka Association in Cambodia (柬埔寨臺灣客家同鄉會).

The handover ceremony between the association’s former
Chair Li Hung-hai (李鴻海) and the
newly elected Chair Chen Bo-hao (陳柏豪) was followed by festivities for the Moon Festival. Also known as the
Mid-Autumn Festival, which is one of the most important celebratory events for the
Hakka people, it falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, as the full moon
symbolizes family reunion. Members of the association gathered together on
Sept. 15 to celebrate the festival and strengthen their bonds with each other.
Former Chair Li stated his appreciation for all the members and administrative staff for their assistance in helping the association operate smoothly. He also thanked Chair Chen for shouldering the responsibility in leading the organization and ensuring the continuation of Hakka culture.
